Chase’s Definitive Senior Superlatives Analysis
Chase Sommer
JUN. 7, 2021
This year featured multiple picks for senior superlatives rather than the past precedent of one male, and one female winner. This offered a list of winners leaving it up to your opinion for who won the award. In this article I will be offering my opinion on who should've won each award, and why.
This year featured multiple picks for senior superlatives rather than the past precedent of one male, and one female winner. This offered a list of winners leaving it up to your opinion for who won the award. In this article I will be offering my opinion on who should've won each award, and why.
The first “best” offered is Artistic. The winners for this award are pretty clear cut to me. I would have chosen Paloma Perez and Jack Vanden Hueval. Paloma Perez has often been spotted with a sketchbook, and having seen some of her artwork first hand, it is very impressive. I’m not certain of her future after college but I'm sure art will follow. Jack Vanden Hueval on the first day of school showed me his design for a clothing brand giving me the initial show of his artistic and creative personality.
Another notable senior best is the greatest sense of humor. For this award, I choose Luke Larson. Luke has a great sense of humor and is always making those around him laugh with his comedic personality. Additionally, for the Social Media Influencer, I choose Henry Waterman. Henry has a very distinctive presence on social media and his most recent post featured him in a tank top holding a cat stating “Cats or dawgs.” This humor combined with social media genius, leads me to believe he could walk amongst the Tik Tok stars of tomorrow.
For the Friendliest/Most Helpful awards I choose Angel Gonzalez and Fiona Affronti. Angel and Fiona are the first people to help you out when you ask for it and always steer you in the right direction. These servant leaders have made a major impact on their classmates leading them to win the prestigious most helpful award.
Another greatly sought after award is the Best Laugh. For this one the winners are Jackson Vogensen, and Aleah Garcia. These two have a contagious laughter that makes any joke ten times better. The only laugh that could rival either of these two would be Coach D laughing down the halls after a big W.
Lastly, for Most Athletic the winners are Dylan Hayman and Sophia Pickering. Sophia is a multiple sport athlete from Tennis, to Basketball and others. On the basketball court she was a defensive superstar. Dylan on the other hand set the school record in points and led the basketball team to four straight winning seasons, with playoff runs in the first three.
This year was a crazy one, but this list was not. All of my choices are the right ones and no other arguments could be made. I did my research and made sure each candidate was the true winner. The other awards were too close to call, and are up for interpretation.
